Common commercial renovation projects
- Tenant fit-ups. The most frequent job. A new tenant moves in and the layout does not match the outlets. We relocate outlets, add circuits for equipment and change the lighting. If the new floor plan needs network drops, our data and cabling page covers that.

Service upgrades for commercial buildings
A commercial service upgrade is the job when a building cannot carry any more load. Before adding a big piece of equipment or another tenant, we check whether the existing panel and service can take it. If they cannot, we say so before the equipment is ordered.

What we look at first
Before we quote an upgrade, we look at what is already there. The answers decide whether the job is a small change or a larger one.
- What the panel carries now. How much capacity is spare, and what the new equipment or the new tenant will add.
- The existing circuits. Whether they are labelled, which ones feed what, and where they are tripping or overloaded.
- What is behind the finish. Where we can see into ceilings and walls, what is in them and how easy it is to reach.
- What is coming. Equipment, tenants or extra lighting that will add load later, so the upgrade does not need redoing in a year.
Working in a building that stays in use
Most commercial renovations happen while the building is partly or fully occupied. We talk through the job with the owner or property manager first. If power has to go off, the people in the building hear when and for how long, so no one is caught off guard in the middle of a day.

Can you work while the building is occupied?
Yes, most renovation jobs happen that way. We plan the work with the owner or property manager, tell the people in the space when power will be off and for how long, and keep the work area clean. The more notice you give about busy times, the easier it is to plan around them.
What does a tenant improvement electrician do?
A tenant improvement electrician changes the electrical in a leased space to suit the new tenant. That usually means relocating outlets, adding circuits for equipment, changing the lighting, and sometimes upgrading the panel. We scope the work to the part that is yours to pay for and coordinate with the landlord and the other trades.
Our panel is full. What are the options?
We start by checking what the panel and service actually carry now, and what you want to add. Sometimes the panel needs more room.
